Description

The kayak Jackson Antix 2.0 is a “half-slice” style whitewater / river running / play kayak designed to combine agility, fun, and versatility. Jackson revamped their original Antix to improve speed, surfing/squirt performance, and comfort. It’s intended as a “one boat for many styles” model — suitable for river running, creeking, boofing, surfing, and even playboat-type moves. It’s meant to give you playfulness without giving up capability on harder whitewater.

Key Design Features & Upgrades (versus Original Antix)

Here are what the 2.0 version changed or improved to enhance performance, comfort, and versatility:

  • Full planing hull: The bottom is shaped for planing, which helps it surf waves better, skim water more efficiently, and generally feel more dynamic.

  • Improved bow volume and rocker: The bow has more volume so it lifts better over waves and drops, and more rocker aids in getting over features & holes.

  • Enhanced stern (half-slice stern): The stern remains “slicey” / lower volume to help with squirts, play, and maneuverability. It’s easier to “stern squirt” (i.e. sink the stern a bit for certain moves) than in prior Antix.

  • More foot room / better outfitting: Taller paddlers or those with longer legs are better accommodated. The knee / thigh hook system (Bees Knees) improves contact, control, and comfort.

  • Outfitting systems:

    • Bees Knees Thigh Hook System (patented) for better control in the thigh brace area.

    • Uni-Shock Bulkhead system to absorb shocks (e.g. pitons / impacts). Helps protect you, the hull, and your gear when hitting fast, rough water.

    • Sure-Lock Backband System (patented) – lightweight, comfortable, easier to adjust.

Pricing & Value

  • The Antix 2.0 is a premium whitewater kayak. The retail price (MSRP) is around US $1,399 in many marketplaces. Paddling Magazine+1

  • You’ll often see higher dealer prices depending on demand, color, accessories, or special outfitting.

  • Used market: depending on condition, size, and age, you may find used Antix 2.0s at a discount — but condition, repairs, hull integrity etc. matter a lot.

Summary: Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Excellent all-round performance: surf, play, speed, boofing.

  • Upgraded hull & rocker give more buoyancy & control.

  • Great outfitting improvements (thigh hooks, bulkhead, backbands).

  • Good fit range; multiple sizes.

  • Strong build quality and Jackson’s support / warranty.

Cons:

  • Not the first choice for extremely steep or very technical creeks with big drops (pure creek boats may perform better).

  • Heavier and bulkier than simpler playboats.

  • Must pick size carefully; poor fit reduces performance.
